The 8th Asia Women's Forum was held in north China's Tianjin Municipality from September 15-17, which organizers say aimed to help "pool women's power and promote prosperity in the Asia-Pacific Region."
The event attracted about 400 attendees, ranging from outstanding women from various fields to women leaders, celebrities, scholars and researchers.
The guests came from 18 countries and regions around the world, including 12 provinces and municipalities in China.
At the opening ceremony, Zhu Liping, member of the Standing Committee and secretary of the Education Working Committee of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee, expressed her welcome to attendees on behalf of the municipal Party committee and Tianjin government.
Zhu pointed out in her speech that since it was launched in 2004, the Asia Women's Forum has become a crucial channel for women from the region to exchange ideas and an important platform for them to communicate with each other.
Zhu said that the local municipal Party committee and government is always concerned about women's lives, happiness and development. It aims to promote the overall development of women and children's causes based on its program for women and children's development.
Zhu hoped that those present could offer more support to Tianjin's development and carry out exchanges and cooperation in various aspects and fields and at different levels.
She also said that the event was sure to provide helpful references for Tianjin women and children's development and believed that it would provide powerful intellectual support for Asian women's progress.
During the meeting held on the morning of September 16, eight experts in the fields of politics, commerce, education, culture and social work exchanged their ideas on women’s issues from diversified perspectives.
